The Ray PTO would like to thank Matthew Poueymirou, former Ray School student, for rebuilding the benches in the east playground for his Eagle Service Project. The project is called Amanda's Garden Outdoor Classroom and other members of Hyde Park Scout Troop 599 helped: former Ray Students Nicholas Poueymirou and Jahlil Brown. Current Ray student and Cub Scout Julian Brown from Pack 3599 also helped! Thank you so much!
And a special message from Cubmaster Jim Poueymirou: "Scouting is alive and filled with fun! Anyone who has interest ages 5-17 can contact Cubmaster Jim Poueymirou at email@example.com or 773-294-0740."

Attention Ray Families:
If you did not receive Friday’s CPS text or email, please complete "Ray Update Contact Information Survey."
Dear Ray Community,
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Gayle Harris-Neely on her new position as Principal of Ray School. Mrs. Neely has been serving as Assistant Principal at Ray for almost six years in full partnership with Principal Megan Thole. Mrs. Neely has over 20 years of experience in the field of education. Among her many accomplishments, Mrs. Neely is a Gage Park Golden Apple teacher and has advanced degrees in School Counseling and School Leadership. Besides her qualifications and experience, her love and commitment to the Ray School community is unwavering, and her years of hard work at Ray have gained her the support of our teachers, staff, and families. The LSC voted to offer the contract principal position to Mrs. Neely on July 24, 2020. We are happy for her and for our school, and we look forward to start our new school year under her leadership.

The New Teacher Orientation Steering Committee is seeking to increase student voice throughout New Teacher Orientation. We are asking school leaders to reach out to teachers, parents, and community members to collect student responses to the following questions:
Please send this google form to students (Grade 6-12) and have them fill it out by July 13.
For students in grades PreK-5 we ask that an adult assists with the google form.
Enrollment 2020 - 2021
We are still awaiting full guidance from the District regarding enrollment. Parents can prepare documentation using the list here and email to Sonia Vergara (firstname.lastname@example.org) so that she can begin enrollment. As for pre-kindergarten students, parents should reference the Chicago Early Learning website for more information.
Library Resources and Information
A note from the Library
If you have Ray library books at home, please set them aside to return in the fall. If you will not be returning to Ray, please drop them by the office or the library in the fall.
Keep an eye out for Chicago Public Library's summer reading challenge. The theme this year is "Building Stories" and more details should be announced through CPL soon.
My family is using Goodreads to make our own summer reading challenge. You can browse books, keep track of what you have read, share lists, and set reading goals. How many books do you think you can read this summer?
I would like to thank the volunteers that spent hours cleaning, organizing, shelving, and kept the library running this spring. A big thank you to Kate Smos, Anne Renna, Charis Wuerffel, Katie Gruber, Boone Gorges, Rachel Rhodes, Angela Sherrill and Jenny Hart. Thank you!
Did you know that CPS has a wide variety of e-books and other online databases for learning, research and fun? Check out the virtual library by clicking here!
For all library online resources the username and password is cps (username) /cps (password). For any questions about these resources, please contact Amy Runjavac-Duda at email@example.com.
